Rihanna's Rodarte style - Get the look!

Rihanna tweeted a picture of herself today in her Tokyo hotel room, with an amazing view of the city below. However, I have to say I found her outfit to be the best thing about the photo.

I love Rihanna's style, she makes the most unlikely combinations work.

Rihanna is rocking a Rodarte sweater here, she appears to be quite a fan of Rodarte and has been pictured several times wearing the Californian label. You can buy a similar sweatshirt at Browns.

I love Rihanna's jersey maxi skirt - I couldn't find a grey one, but I found this black one from Topshop which I think would look just as good. It can be dressed up or down, too.

Topshop 'Bias Jersey Maxi Skirt' - £18.00

These Comme Des Garcons PLAY Pumps by Converse are currently on my footwear wishlist. They are available here in the UK.

'Started humming a song from 1962, Ain't it funny how the night moves...'

Ok, where are my fellow Bob Seger fans? My post today is inspired by his 1976 hit 'Night Moves'.

'Night Moves' was the song which took Seger from a regional success to a national star. It was his breakthrough hit - there's a chevy, there's a cornfield, it's basically a better version of 'American Pie'. A tale of young lovers spending a summer on the dusty trail, an allusion to the speed of time and a sentimental account of free love.

Listening to this song, I can feel the sunshine on my legs. And well, I like that - I live in Manchester, it doesn't happen too regularly. As a writer, nothing inspires me more than good music, and whenever I listen to Night Moves I automatically formulate a story, a scenario and ultimately a fantasy.

I listen to this song, and I'm rolling along Route 66 in an old chevrolet. Heat thick around my shoulders, and a gentle breeze tousling my hair. And I'm inspired, I think of Aerosmith's 'Crazy' video with Alicia Silverstone & Liv Tyler taking on the world in a blue Mustang convertible. I think of Clarence & Alabama heading for Mexico in 'True Romance'.

It's about free love, life on the road and an appreciation for life. And delivering on my fashion post promise, see my 'Night Moves/Ke -dollar sign - HA' inspired outfit selection here - http://pinterest.com/mirandahogan/night-moves/

'On the Road' to hit the big screen.

Yesterday, I made the overdue discovery that Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' has been adapted for the big screen. On the Road is one of my favourite books, and quite honestly I'm surprised it has taken this long for a movie to come along. Published in 1957, the book influenced Jim Morrison, Hunter S. Thompson and Bob Dylan said of it "It changed my life like it changed everyone else's." Oh, and Katy Perry claimed that it influenced 'Fireworks'  - but let's not place blame, okay?

As for the cast, I don't really have any strong opinions about this yet. Marylou will be played by Kristen Stewart, now I am not a 'Twilight' fan - and I have no idea about this girl's acting abilities, I'm guessing she's okay given the success of the aforementioned.

Sam Riley plays Sal, and I am inclined to believe that he'll do the part justice. Sam Riley played Ian Curtis in 'Control' and his performance was astounding. 'On the Road' will also star Kirsten Dunst (I'm not sure I should judge her based purely on 'Bring it On' ) Viggo Mortensen and Steve Buscemi. The last two give me hope.

I'm looking forward to watching this, and I think it has the potential to be a really huge movie. I'm hoping that people will be encouraged to read the book, and if you are reading this blog - go read the book now!  I'll definitely be seeing this upon it's release, and I'll also be sure to watch out for the sizeable bandwagon approaching.
